We had the great pleasure of screening OMAKASE on Saturday afternoon at AgeSong, a retirement community that generously donates their community room to us for auditions and rehearsal space. And, we filmed a scene of OMAKASE on their beautiful rooftop! Thanks to Sushi Frausto at AgeSong for coordinating the event and to the actors, Larry Kitagawa and Suilma Rodriguez for attending a lively QandA session.

The Musicians behind Omakase
Here’s a little peek at the musicians at work creating the amazing score for Omakase. Eric Carpenter on guitar and keyboard. Malin Huffman on violin. Jason Cline on upright bass.
Omakase Production Photos
Thanks to our great on-set photographers, Jon McNeal and Jules Cisek, we captured some great moments of movie magic during the filming of Omakase. Freshly uploaded to Flickr, have a look behind the scenes.
Partying down for Omakase
Thanks to everyone who came out for the AWESOME release party yesterday to see OMAKASE on the big screen with big sound. Plenty of champagne and French pastries added to the festivities, but the best part of all was finally seeing our hard work come together. Thank you to all our fans for the support and celebration, and a huge congratulations to the cast and crew!
For everyone who couldn’t make the showing, this is the “behind the scenes” video we also premiered last night. Good fun!
We came, we saw, we filmed all night!
Shadow Angel Films survived and thrived during the all-night shoot (8pm – 11am)! Were there early morning hijinks (Alex and Eric, you think you’re so clever with those C-47s and tape, but remember, a good director has eyes in the back of her head)? Did we indulge in bacon at 3am? Did beer bottles explode? Yes!
All that and more moviemaking fun than you could imagine. Let’s just say only the actors ended the night looking as fresh and pretty as when they started! But thanks to an AWESOME crew, we have great footage to start editing!
Acting Up for Omakase
Presenting Duke Lee, Larry Kitagawa, and Suilma Rodriguez! Three incredibly talented actors who will star in OMAKASE. We met for improv exercises and rehearsals, discovering new things about ourselves and the characters. These actors are AWESOME and committed to their roles. You are gonna love watching them!
Omakase is Back On Track
Suisha House in Redwood City graciously agreed to be our sushi restaurant location! And, we found a wonderful location for a dramatic rooftop scene at night. We’ve booked some wonderful talent with rehearsals starting soon. A good day to be a filmmaker!
Everything Is Gonna Be OK
In a very disappointing and unexpected turn of events, O-Toro Sushi notified us they needed to pull out of the agreement to be the main location. So, it’s back into the location scouting fray! We are making our lists, and checking them twice. Today we went to 10 more locations and we’ll keep at it until we find the right one!
Next shoot location found!
After a long scouting trek to over 20 sushi restaurants, we found the main location: O-Toro Sushi at 205 Oak Street in San Francisco!
Jimmy, the owner, is very enthusiastic about having us there and we love the elevated sushi bar and the elegant, simple decor. As you can see, the sushi is exceptionally beautiful. And, we have eaten there twice now, and the food tasted just as good as it looks! We urge you to visit there and see for yourself. Tell Jimmy you’re there to check out the next film location for Shadow Angel Films!
Yummy seared hamachi belly nigiri.
