In a very disappointing and unexpected turn of events, O-Toro Sushi notified us they needed to pull out of the agreement to be the main location. So, it’s back into the location scouting fray! We are making our lists, and checking them twice. Today we went to 10 more locations and we’ll keep at it until we find the right one!
After a long scouting trek to over 20 sushi restaurants, we found the main location: O-Toro Sushi at 205 Oak Street in San Francisco!
Jimmy, the owner, is very enthusiastic about having us there and we love the elevated sushi bar and the elegant, simple decor. As you can see, the sushi is exceptionally beautiful. And, we have eaten there twice now, and the food tasted just as good as it looks! We urge you to visit there and see for yourself. Well, of course we always knew we had merit in general, but we’re talking specifically about The Doorpost Film Project, an online film contest. They chose our film to be posted on their Web site! Watch it here! Congratulations to the hard-working and talented Bottle Caps cast and crew on this recognition of your AWESOME merit!

What a wonderful chance to celebrate our work together as a cast and crew! We gathered at the home of Heidi McDowell and Jon McNeal (the still photographer) to watch the film and enjoy cake and champagne. Most of the crew made the party, and those unable to come were fondly missed. We also played a few rounds of a newly-invented form of bingo–Bottle Caps Bingo– making good use of our leftover 20 lbs of bottle caps from the shoot. Take a look at the DVD extras here!
We just finished up two great days of shooting! We shot all but one scene outdoors, which is a risk in the rainy season here in the Bay Area. But we sailed through with just a few hours on Sunday scrambling to hold an umbrella over the camera. See some behind-the-scene production stills on flickr here and here.

On Saturday night we premiered Shadow Angel at the Comic Outpost, the location where most of the film took place. Awesome setting. Awesome crowd. And Awesome cake! It’s great to see Shadow Angel on the big screen.
Also premiered last night was a collection of out-takes and photos from the production. And here that is for everyone to see:
Allright, here’s Get Her. Eric Carpenter and I came up with a dramatic soundtrack to up the ante a bit. Learned alot about using the new SGBlade 35mm adapter in the field, which was the point. Next time I’ll even get every shot in focus!

Today we shot a spur of the moment short, Get Her, as an excuse to try out my new 35mm lens adapter. Hope to post it in a few days. Gonna get Eric to record some music to go along with it first.
